The Process

Four stages. Done at your site. From raw lumber to finished installation.

Selection

Premium cypress or cedar selected for grain consistency, moisture content, and suitability for the yakisugi process. We source or work with your supplied material.

Preparation

Each board is cleaned, dried, and staged. Dimensional consistency checked. Defects flagged before the first flame touches the surface.

Traditional chimney method or torch — controlled, even char depth to specification. Light alligator through heavy tiger stripe. The process is precise, not approximate.

Char brushed to specification, then oiled and sealed. Final inspection board by board. Delivered installation-ready with care and handling instructions for the crew.
